Description

What is a Circular Economy? There is no single globally agreed definition, but there is a clear global direction. The overall goal is to create a safe and just space for humanity. Smiley TALKS, along with our partners Circular Brighton & Hove (CBH) are hosting this special event during National Circular Economy Week on the 7th November 2019 in Brighton with the aim of developing the vision, skills and mindset to transition Brighton into a circular economy. We aim to do this by raising awareness of the need to #ThinkCircular in our everyday lives as a means of creating a more equal and sustainable community (Sustainable Development Goal 11 – Creating Sustainable Cities & Communities). We will be joined by an expert panel of Academics and local Businesses sharing different models we can easily adopt: from choosing renewable & recycled products, extending the useful lifespan of goods, re-using resources instead of sending to landfill and leasing products ‘as-a-service’ rather than the ‘take, make & dispose’ nature of a linear economy. Our workshop, delivered by Sally May, Circular Economy Coach & Business Mentor will inspire audiences to ‘Face The Future Smiling’ by teaching us how to refocus our time and energy on doing things that are within our circle of control. Enabling our individual contributions, big or small, to become a cog in the wheel of the shift-change needed to design a more equal and sustainable future. This is an open and inclusive event, that brings together people and organisations in Brighton actively promoting or interested in learning about ways we can collaborate to create a healthier economy. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, get inspired and #JoinTheCircularRevolution. This is a free event but registration is required via www.smileymovement/events.
