Top 3 new businesses: From altruistic shoes to eco yurts

Words by Abi Scaife

We're back with a roundup of brand-new businesses that are dedicated to giving back!

This week we have mindfulness, wellness, and some stylish shoes that will help you give back while you strut your stuff.

Without further ado, let's get into it!

MINDFULNESS FOR LEARNING.

The first on our list is Mindfulness for Learning. A well-being centre for educators and parents, Mindfulness for Learning is aiming to make the education system better for everyone.

Sophie Smith-Tong, the founder who still works full time as a teacher, delivers kids yoga classes, child 1:1 well-being sessions and free online mindfulness for children over the school holidays.

As well as this, she hosts webinars for parents and teachers that are free or priced as low as £3, to help provide support and advice.

YURTSHIRE.

Yurtshire is a luxury yurt resort in Yorkshire, which is home to premium amenities (such as hot tubs and pizza ovens) and beautiful interiors (fully equipped kitchens and stargazing ceilings - images attached).

Most importantly, Yurtshire is dedicated to sustainability, and has promised to plant 2,000 more trees with its own pledge to the environment. They are aiming to work with the nature around them and protect, restore and reconnect the site’s own varied natural habitats, while ensuring that wildlife continues to thrive.

TOMS.

The classic shoe brand Toms gives back in a big way - by donating ⅓ of their profits to grassroots organisations to help provide mental health support to those in need. From this contribution, they have impacted 100 million lives so far and show no signs of stopping.

They are a B Corp that are dedicated to giving back to our planet and are always looking for ways to improve themselves and help others.
