Description

‘Times, they are a changing’.

2/3 of the world’s population live in a mass consumerist bubble of smart phones, social media, AI and electric cars, while the rest live in persistent poverty and can’t afford basic needs like food, clothes, shelter and education.

In the UK, 20% of people live in poverty; 8 million of which are adults, 4 million children and 1.9 million pensioners. London is one of the wealthiest cities in the world yet the number of rough sleepers in the Capital was at a record high in 2019.

The system isn’t working as it should, leaving people vulnerable and preventing them from becoming productive members of society.

We believe change is possible, and this human crisis can be managed and prevented by working together to create local opportunities, social trading and becoming more self-sustaining communities.

Join us on the 6th May in London at this at this Smiley TALK dedicated to dismantling poverty and building resilient communities.

Our inspirational partners will share their vision and strategies for individuals and businesses to join the fight against poverty and hunger, reduce income inequalities, social trading and support local causes, look ay out consumption habits and putting pressure on local MPs to prioritise welfare reform systems.

This event supports the UN Goals 1 ‘No Poverty’ and 2 ‘Zero Hunger’ and aims to inspire positive action around the UK. The event is free and everyone is welcome, you just need to register first.
