Kicking off DESIGN BRIGHTON 2020, a four-day Festival for the Urban Environment, is this special Smiley TALK dedicated to Sustainable Development in Construction – one of the highest polluting sectors in the world.

Hosted in partnership with Circular Brighton & Hove, our aim is to tackle UN Goal 12: Responsible Consumption & Production by addressing resource-intensive building models and showcasing the inspiring vision and works of sustainable architects, urban designers, non-profits, circular thinkers and Innovators working towards living well within the limits of our planet.  This event is free and open to the public, designers, students, climate action groups, local authorities and anyone keen to learn more about sustainable development, responsible consumption and production.

 

AGENDA:

  • 9.30am- 10.00am Registration
  • 10.00am- 10.05am - Introduction to Smiley TALKS (5 mins)
  • 10.05am-10.35am- Opening Speech by Dr David Greenfield & keynote (30 mins)
  • 10.35-11.35am- Panel discussion showcasing works of sustainable designers from different sectors & audience Q&A (1 hour)
  • 11.35 -12.00pm Sustainability Workshop
  • 12.00pm –12.05pm - Closing Remarks & Calls to Action
  • 12.05pm- 1pm -Speed Networking session & refreshments
  • 1pm - Event Ends

David has been working within the waste and resources industry in local government for over 20 years, he has procured and managed a waste PFI and spent the last 10 years advising local and central government. David is Chartered Waste Manager, Fellow of the CIWM, a member of SOCITM and a Chartered Environmentalist.
