To keep up with these more progressive attitudes, dating apps are catering more to the diversity of people they are meant to serve. Here are just a few of those that are leading the way towards a more inclusive dating scene.
Jack’d describes itself as “the most diverse community for gay, bi, trans, and queer people around the globe.” It is also favoured as a more racially diverse app where users are less likely to face discrimination.
Appreciated by users for its complete inclusivity, Feeld is a dating app for pretty much anyone of any sexuality, gender, or relationship goals. One reviewer commented that it is “better than most apps, particularly if you’re LGBTQ+, queer, neurodivergent, kinky, and/or poly”.
Launched by three sisters, Coffee Meets Bagel is created by women with a sensitivity to the potential challenges of dating. Co-founder Arum Kang explained the thinking behind it: “How do we actually change this world so that future generations don’t have to experience these kinds of hate crimes? The only way is to truly celebrate people’s uniqueness rather than just simply accepting it.”
Scruff is a popular option for gay men. Despite being described as a “hook up” app, many users have found love and relationships through it with Scruff CEO Eric Silverberg saying: “Members all over the world have met their partners and husbands on SCRUFF.”
This lesbian, queer and bisexual dating app is intended to offer a safe space for anyone identifying as a queer woman. From its popularity with users, HER claims to be “the world's largest and most loved free dating app for LGBTQ women”.
