Having premiered at Davos’s Climate Hub earlier this year, a new film from the Nature Positive Initiative and co-produced by Open Planet Studios aims to inspire audiences to think more about what can be done to change systems to become more sustainable.
In the form of a 30-minute documentary, the film cuts through the fancy words and features the work of a coalition of more than 27 diverse global organisations working tirelessly to reach the global goal, offering a roadmap to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by the end of the decade.
Featuring insights from a diverse coalition of scientists, CEOs, and policymakers, the film frames the "nature crisis" as an issue deeply intertwined with climate change and global inequality.
Rather than dwelling on environmental collapse, the project highlights the shift toward a "nature positive" framework — a strategy increasingly adopted by business and investment leaders to foster economic and ecological resilience.
By focusing on the immediate choices facing modern decision-makers, the film presents the transition to a nature-centered economy as a vital opportunity for growth rather than a simple narrative of doom.
More than just an educational piece, the film aims to spark a global dialogue on the most pressing questions surrounding our planet's future. Based on the book of the same name, Becoming Nature Positive: Transitioning to a Safe and Just Future (June 2025), the documentary can be used as a tool to inspire policymakers, business and finance leaders as well as educators.
Marco Lambertini, Convener of the Nature Positive Initiative and Executive Director of the film said: “The film ‘Becoming Nature Positive’, while recognising the dangerous path we are on, is about a positive vision of a better and safer world – and most importantly, it inspires a sense of possibility and galvanises action.”
