A two-time cancer survivor has launched a charity and digital app in a bid to combat the isolation and loneliness people with cancer experience.
Alike UK is a Bumble-style app for cancer patients. It allows people to meet, post content, comment, and chat to other people with cancer – and it was built in response to Brad Gudger's lived experience of isolation from a young age.
Brad didn’t have the easiest of upbringings growing up in a small village in rural north Yorkshire. He struggled with his sexuality – suffering from isolation and loneliness – but came out when he was 17. It was a challenge, but when he came out he had a “renaissance” as he describes it, and everyone welcomed him with open arms.
