Beyoncé donates scholarship funding on her world tour

Words by Tess Becker

The international pop sensation, Beyoncé, is giving back during her Renaissance World Tour. Before her concert in Detroit, a local college received a surprise.

Ahead of the concert the BeyGOOD Foundation, a public charity funded by Beyoncé, awarded the Detroit School for Digital Technology with $100,000 in scholarship funding.

This is part of Beyoncé’s pledge to donate $1 million in scholarships to colleges along her tour.

She also gave away free concert tickets to those who attended the event that accompanied her donation.

Jamie Harris, the founder and CEO of DSDT, said that it was a complete surprise.

“The only reason we knew was because we got the email,” she said.
