The disruptive power of crowdfunding is driving a multitude of positive initiatives around the world. Social and environmental causes alike are benefitting hugely from its potential.

From the last few years, here are just a few of our favourite success stories that emerged thanks to crowdfunding.

Pedal power to the people!

Fundraising efforts permitted Chrisp Street Community Cycles to repurpose a disused shop in East London and offer free bicycles and cycling lessons to local people. Now they seek funding to launch winter cycling schemes, a women-only cycling club, bike swaps and more.

A victory they’ll never forget…

With the help of a fundraiser on JustGiving, Burm and Emily’s Elephant Sanctuary managed to raise $40,000 (AUD) in 13 days so they could save Mae Kam the elephant from slavery.

Hope in the face of disaster

Thanks to the generosity of 1228 donors through JustGiving, and 110 fundraisers, the Disasters Emergency Committee collected £120,590 to help people hit by starvation and drought in East Africa, having a positive impact in the region.

Tapping towards zero homelessness

In collaboration with contactless giving company GoodBox, Tap London managed to roll out 90 ‘tap to donate’ stations across London in 2018. Since then, they’ve raised over £270,000 for four charities supporting vulnerable people left without shelter.

Combatting cancer with cabaret

The charity, Cabaret vs Cancer puts on bedazzling cabaret and burlesque shows across the UK to raise money for families affected by cancer. Since teaming up with GoodBox they’ve seen a 30% increase in donations.

Hope for Filipino orphans

Supported by a donations processing tool, CAF Donate, BuildAid raised close to £23,000 to cover construction costs for the Trinity Angels Orphanage in the Philippines.
