Send a message of hope to someone in need

Words by Smiley Team

The Children’s Society is encouraging members of the public to restore, protect and strengthen young people’s hope and happiness this festive season. The charity is partnering with the public, and professionals such as police and teachers, to tackle the impacts of criminal exploitation and child sexual abuse.

Right now, young people’s hopes and happiness are being threatened by abuse, exploitation and neglect, they say – but by offering your words of support to future generations this Christmas, you can help them break free and live a life full of hope and confidence.

“We can see the hope and courage in young people every day and we support them for as long as it takes for them to break free from their trauma," they say.

“Now we’re stepping up the fight for hope at a time when it’s under threat like never before. With your support, we can be there for young people trapped in a cycle of crime and abuse. Together we can help them break free and see their future is theirs to own.”

They want to offer hope for a happier home life, of getting a job, overcoming the obstacles of modern life, and of getting away from people who exploit and hurt them. Ultimately, the hope that tomorrow can be better than today.

Members of the public and send a message of hope to young people. One example message reads: “One day you’ll open your eyes and find yourself in a much happier place. It’ll happen so suddenly that it might shock you, but you’ll love it. Keep fighting! You’ve got this.”

Another says: “It won’t always be like this, but right now I know it’s dark. You matter, you are loved, even if you cannot see it right now, hold out for the morning and the lark.”

One supporter wrote: “Never let anyone tell you, you can’t do anything. Only let it motivate you to prove them wrong.”

The Children Society’s goal is that by 2030, they will have overturned the damaging decline in children’s wellbeing, setting a path for long lasting growth.
