24-year-old's fashion brand made from hemp

We’re profiling under 25s who give back – through their work, volunteering, or any projects that give back to people and the planet.

A 24-year-old from South London has launched his own ethical fashion brand after being inspired by the need to follow his passion with purpose, creative design – and a want to help young people.

Saif Bhoja started Huriah with the help of East London social enterprise incubator, Social Ark. The company aims to raise awareness of the impact fast fashion has on the planet and society, through a range of creative printed t-shirts made out of hemp.

Described as a ‘miracle crop’, hemp is a durable, breathable and carbon negative material, making Huriah’s products long lasting and environmentally sustainable.

Huriah’s T-shirts are made to order in Saif’s home workshop, with every T-shirt only being printed once an order is placed to avoid waste.

Since its launch, Huriah has had community collaboration at its core, working with local organisations. Saif holds empowering workshops for 15-25 year olds, boosting creativity and self-esteem through developing grassroots social action campaigns.

Most recently, Huriah also outfitted Bikeworks, a community interest company that aims to change lives through cycling, and designed a unique T-shirt for Compass Collective, a non-profit theatre company working with people seeking sanctuary.

You can can find Huriah Hemp on the ‘eBay for Change’ hub, or any other of 50 social enterprises, who each have a clear social mission to support disadvantaged communities through the products they sell.
