LandAid, the property industry charity, has launched an appeal for the industry to support young homeless people through the winter.
Each year the charity investes £2 million in projects aimed at preventing youth homelessness through providing safe accomodation.
In a new video, created in conjunction with Youth Voice, you can hear why this appeal is so needed, with young people describing the last six months in three words.
Just £12 could pay for a young person’s phone contract - ensuring they can keep in touch with their support network over the Christmas period and £29 could provide kitchen essentials, so young homeless people are able to cook hot and nutritious meals this winter. £164 could bring someone in from the cold this winter and pay for a month’s stay in a project where LandAid has created a bed space
"Without the safety and security of a home, without somewhere to isolate if they need, many now without jobs, unable to heat their homes and feed themselves; the pandemic has been impossible for thousands of young people across the country."Paul Morrish, Chief Executive at LandAid, said.
"Following on from the support shown for homeless young people through the LandAid COVID-19 Emergency Fund, we are now asking people working in the industry to make a small donation to help young people through the winter: just £12 will make a huge difference.”
You can support the LandAid Appeal here - no amount is too small and makes a huge difference to the life of young people experiencing homelessness
