Late-night shopping fundraiser to mark 10 years since Rana Plaza

Words by Abi Scaife

Charity retailer TRAID is hosting a fundraiser to mark the 10-year anniversary of the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Tell me more.

The fundraiser will take place on the evening of Thursday 28th April from 6pm-9pm at TRAID Dalston. To register for the event, head to this Eventbrite link.

There will be late-night, secondhand shopping (score!), a live DJ and even an activist embroidery and print workshop.

Every sale made will be donated directly to the Bangladesh Centre for Worker’s Solidarity, to support their incredible work to improve the rights, safety and working conditions of garment workers.

Amazing!

It is! The event is completely free, though they do suggest that you bring clothing donations with you to help encourage sales. And don’t forget to bring a couple of shopping bags - you’ll need them.

If you can’t make the event, would rather donate directly, or want to help in other ways, you can do so on the TRAID website.
