Mind over Mountains: the charity combining nature and therapy

Words by Abi Scaife

If you’re someone who likes getting out into nature, you’ll know just how good it is for your mental health. Nothing quite beats a stomp around the woods to get out your negative emotions - but what if there was someone to guide you on the way?

Enter Mind Over Mountains, a charity which combines professional counselling with nature walks.

Alex Staniforth experienced mental health struggles and saw the lack of support firsthand, so he co-founded the charity in 2020 alongside Chris Spray.

The vision for the charity is to become our natural health service, giving opportunities for people to receive the benefits of counselling and the outdoors in an unhurried, unpressured setting.
