Noah’s Ark’s Moments That Matter campaign has raised an extraordinary £2million in just 36 hours to support seriously unwell babies and children.
The charity’s supporters came together in an unprecedented fundraising drive to ensure that the babies, children, young people - and their families - are able to experience moments that truly matter.
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice provides support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families. Their mission is to provide care and support for children and young people from birth who have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition with the aim of supporting them to live full lives and to achieve their aspirations. Furthermore, the charity work to ensure that that families are able to live life as fully as possible while their child is still alive and go on to face the future with hope after bereavement.
Last year, Noah’s Ark supported over 350 seriously unwell babies and children, but there are over 2,000 children in the catchment area - which encompasses Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Hertsmere and Islington - who the charity could be supporting. Owing to increased demand during the pandemic, the charity are also taking referals for babies and children from other local boroughs.
As one of the stars of their fundraising video, Jake, said after shielding at home for over six months: “Going to The Ark felt like I was finally free. It was honestly the best time of my life.”
The funds raised through this campaign will ensure that the charity is able to continue creating moments that matter for children like Jake; through Covid and beyond.
Thanks to the support of the community, the charity smashed the initial £1.2m target - the annual cost of their nurses and carers. The extra funds will mean that Noah’s Ark will be able to immediately begin appointing new specialist nurses and carers and continue their vital work at The Ark and in families’ homes throughout the coming months.
“We couldn’t have achieved this wonderful result without the contributions of so many people who have poured their heart and soul into this campaign" Anthony Hayman, Director of Communications and Fundraising, said.
"It will have a profound and hugely positive impact on so many of London’s most unwell babies and children. A massive thank you to every single person who made this possible for Noah’s Ark and the children who we support”.
The campaign is still open for donations.
