Ways to Get Involved With Charities This October

09:00, 01 October 2024

Words by Cheyanne Bryan, Editorial and Campaign Marketing Executive, London

We are now entering the last quarter of the year, but it is still not too late to do an act of kindness or connect with others in a meaningful way.

Here are a few volunteering opportunities that you can get involved in.

Coeliac UK

Coeliac UK is a leading charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by coeliac disease, a serious autoimmune condition triggered by the ingestion of gluten. They have numerous opportunities to assist children and young people in starting their volunteering journeys such as joining the Young Champions or Gluten Free Under Thirties (GUTs), both of which do an excellent job of raising awareness in schools, further education, and the workplace, while also providing support to young people to ensure they do not feel alone and isolated.

The Felix Project

Known all over London for the commitment to tackling food waste and food insecurity. The Felix Project has a wide range of volunteering roles up for grabs on their website. You can use your time by getting involved at one of their kitchens, lending a hand at one of their multibanks for nonfood items or delivering goods across London.

Crisis

Crisis offers a range of programs, including emergency accommodation, health and wellbeing services, education and training, and employment support to help individuals experiencing homelessness. And you can help with them too!

Go here to find a local charity shop where you can spend your free time or find out how to work directly with the people at the heart of the cause.

Mind

If mental health is what you’re passionate about, Mind - one of the UK’s largest mental health service - has a range of roles that are open for anyone. You can pick from a range of fundraising, campaign, and assisting in one of their high street shops to being a helping hand at one of their events.

The Social Society

If none of these opportunities pick your fancy, The Social Society has some upcoming events.

On the 10th October, they have a Charity Hangout in Brighton at 6:30pm to 9:30 pm - For more information and the address, click here

Starting from the 20th November, The Social Society will be hosting a series of Charity Supper Clubs to support eight remarkable charities that are truly making a difference in Brighton. Find out more about each event on their events page here.
