Jordan Mooney memorial gig supports charities

In April 2022, punk icon Jordan Mooney – best known for her work with the Sex Pistols – died aged 66 after being diagnosed with cancer.

In memory of the "Queen of Punk", an official Jordan Mooney Memorial Concert will take place at Brighton’s Concorde 2 on Sunday 29 May. Profits will be split between Cat’s Protection and The Music Venue Trust – two important charities in the late punk icon’s life in Sussex.

The memorial concert is being organised by Jordan’s partner Nick Linazasoro and Black Rabbit Productions.

Jordan Mooney – whose real name was Pamela Brooke – worked with fashion designer Vivienne Westwood to create the famous London punk style alongside musicians such as Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols and Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Charity impact

Jordan shared her home with many cats over the years, and at one time bred award-winning Burmese cats. “When I was approached to hold a memorial concert, it was decided to equally share the profits from the event between two charities close to Jordan’s heart: Cat’s Protection and The Music Venue Trust," said Nick Linazasoro.

“The concert is a celebration of everything Jordan. It will be a perfect blend of the old guard and new pretenders, with live performances from some of her friends in bands as well as a selection of local music artists that Jordan loved to listen to and attend their concerts.”

A Cat’s Protection spokesperson said: “As well as being a genuine cultural influencer, Jordan was known for her great love of cats. We are honoured to be a small part of her extensive legacy as a beneficiary of this tribute to a true icon. We will ensure that the money is spent well in her legacy.” Cats Protection is a UK charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray, unwanted or homeless cats and educating people about cats and cat welfare.

The other charity the concert is supporting, Music Venue Trust, is a nonprofit that acts to protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues for the benefit of venues, communities and upcoming artists.
