The 'Street Litter' School Bags Sent To Children In Ghana

Words by Abi Scaife

School in a Bag send school bags filled with educational resources to poor, orphan, vulnerable, disadvantaged and disaster-affected children. The charity also works with Ghana-based initiative Trashy Bags.

The school bags are made from discarded water sachets (the equivalent of plastic water bottles) which often litter the streets, gutters and beaches in Ghana. Once discarded, they block storm drains, cause flooding, ruin crops and increase the risk of deadly water-borne diseases in the remaining stagnant water.

To support the charity, Wiley's Finest raised £6,000 for the charity to continue its mission. We caught up with Luke Simon, founder and CEO of School in a Bag to find out more.
