Venezuela Earthquake: Recovery Efforts and Ways To Help

11:10, 29 June 2026

Words by Cheyanne Bryan, Editorial and Campaign Marketing Executive, London

As search and rescue teams continue working around the clock following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, stories of compassion and resilience are emerging alongside the tragedy.

Emergency responders, volunteers and neighbours have been working side by side to search for survivors, deliver food and water, and provide shelter for families forced from their homes. International rescue teams have teamed up with local efforts, highlighting how communities across borders can come together when disaster strikes.

What happened?

On 24th June 2026, two powerful earthquakes measuring a magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck off Venezuela's north-central coast, with the hardest-hit areas including La Guaira and communities close to Caracas.

Hundreds of aftershocks have since been recorded, making rescue efforts more challenging and increasing the risk to damaged buildings. Authorities say thousands of people have been displaced, while hospitals and emergency shelters continue to care for survivors. As rescue operations continue, officials warn that casualty figures may change as more areas become accessible.

Who has been affected?

Thousands of families have lost homes, businesses and essential services, with coastal communities among the worst affected.

Rescue workers continue searching damaged buildings while medical teams treat injuries and provide emergency healthcare. Existing humanitarian challenges in Venezuela mean many vulnerable communities were already facing difficulties before the earthquakes, making rapid aid especially important.
