A community in East Yorkshire has come together to build a club for homeless young people.
The Cherry Tree Youth Club is a community group in Beverley, East Yorkshire, which has been meeting in a gazebo in a park since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Set up in 2016, the Youth Club supports around 90 people every week - all young people aged 10-18, or up to 25 for those with special or educational needs.
Organised by DIY SOS, which will broadcast the story later in 2025, the new building was erected in just 8 days with the help of hundreds of volunteers.
DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles has praised the ‘community spirit’ of those who got involved, turning an empty field into a lifeline for young people experiencing homelessness.
