Twenty-five cyclists and support staff, including four care-experienced young people from different areas in the Northwest, raised a total of £2460 by taking part in the annual 60-mile Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride on July 14th.

Now in its 18th year, the journey commenced at Media City, Salford at 8 am, culminating at the iconic Blackpool Glitterball South Promenade around 3:20 pm. Despite facing challenges along the way, such as a young rider's fall, the team persevered with the spirit of Pure Insight, embodying the charity's ethos of resilience.

Supported by a dedicated crew of volunteers, the 12 riders encountered both triumphs and setbacks throughout the day, with the support team offering essential refreshments and motivation. Upon crossing the finish line, the group was met with cheers from nearly 300 spectators, evoking tears of joy and a sense of achievement.

The bike ride was put on by Pure Insight, a charity dedicated to supporting care-experienced young people as they transition into adulthood.

Sarah Sturmey, Founder of Pure Insight, shared her pride: “This bike ride embodies what Pure Insight is all about. We are a community, united by a common cause. Activities like this bring people together and support our mission of togetherness and empowerment for care-experienced young people.”

As one participant crossed the finish line they said: “Awww man, this is sick. I can't wait to do it again next year.”
