Electric two-wheelers: the eco-travel trend of 2022?

Exploring the world is incomparable when you have a decent pair of wheels to ride around it. But with mounting concerns about climate change, it’s important your vehicle is as eco-friendly as possible. Despite some controversy over safety in 2021, electric two-wheelers could be about to take off.

While the automotive industry took a hit during the pandemic, electric vehicles started to show promise last year. Thanks to more readily available models as well as consumer preferences, they began to go mainstream. Meanwhile, smaller electric vehicles such as e-scooters and e-bikes increased in popularity.

"With demand for electric two-wheelers expected to overtake traditional fuel-based vehicles in three to five years, now is the moment to harness the power of innovation, help consumers level up their transportation technology and create a greener planet together," said Aska Zeng, the general manager of electric two-wheeler company Yadea.

Off the back of this trend, Yadea says it plans to scale up its efforts to produce eco-friendly innovations that can pave the way for more sustainable streets around the world.

“As it looks to the future, Yadea has vowed to continue championing eco-friendly innovations and unlock the power of millions of everyday changes to electrify lives on the planet,” it claimed.

The global brand sells electric scooters, kick scooters, bicycles and other models that are especially attractive travel options for young people. While Generation Z and millennials struggle to afford a car, small electric vehicles are more financially feasible choices.

This is great news for the environment, for which these low emission vehicles are a welcome innovation. To date, vehicles produced by Yadea have helped save 9.07 million tons of petrol and eliminate 31.6 million tons of CO2 emissions – the equivalent of planting 1.58 billion trees.

Now that electric vehicles are the more environmentally viable option, it appears possible that smaller eco-friendly vehicles could also become a big hit.
