The Emmys 2025 has been and gone, and while this year’s host has received some online backlash, we at Smiley News would like to take this opportunity and give some much deserved flowers to the charity that was mentioned.
On Sunday Night, comedian Nate Bargatze pledged to make a donation to the US-based volunteering charity, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, if celebrities kept their speeches short.
The bit was supposed to be a lighthearted joke on the yearly complaint that awardees talk for way too long when on the stage.
Let’s take this opportunity to tell you about this wonderful charity that got a shout out on a high profile stage!
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is a US-based nonprofit organisation dedicated to enabling all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Through a network of more than 4,700 clubs, BGCA provides safe spaces, mentorship, and life-enhancing programs for over 4 million kids and teens annually. From the arts and mental health support to sports and recreation, the organisation helps youth build confidence, leadership skills, and academic success.
BGCA also supports career development through initiatives like Workforce Readiness. With a focus on equity and access, the charity works tirelessly to close opportunity gaps for marginalised communities. Whether it's through art, tutoring, or wellness programs, BGCA ensures that every child has a chance to thrive. Learn more about how you can support their mission.
