Free (and cheap) meals for kids during Easter

Words by Abi Scaife

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced a one-off scheme to provide children with free meals throughout the school holidays.

Amazing! Tell me more.

The £3.5 million scheme is set to run for 12 months and will help to provide a whopping 6.9 million extra meals to those in need.

The money will go to charities and other partners in London and will be ready in time to provide meals throughout the Easter holidays.

Plus, money will be given to the Mayor’s Fund for London, which helps to provide meals for low-income families and young people throughout the capital.

Anything else I need to know?

If you’re not in the capital, or don’t qualify for the scheme, but are looking for cheap ways to feed your kids this Easter holiday, here’s a list of places where kids eat for free or for £1.

TGI Friday’s: between 28th March and 16th April kids will eat free when an adult on the reward scheme (including new members) order from the main menu.

Yo! Sushi: between 3rd and 14th April, kids can eat free all day from the ‘kiddo menu’ when their adult spends £10.

IKEA: every day from 11am kids can order pasta and tomato sauce and a soft drink for 95p with any other meals just £1.50.

If you’re interested in helping low-income families eat for less this Easter, consider donating to or volunteering with The Felix Project
