His Majesty King Charles III has spoken out, showing his appreciation for cancer-support community groups.
His Majesty, alongside Queen Camilla, hosted a number of community-based initiatives supporting cancer patients and their families at Buckingham Palace on April 30, 2025.
In a statement made by His Majesty King Charles III, the King addressed his own cancer diagnosis, which was made public in February 2024, saying it made him ‘one of the statistics’.
He expressed a new understanding of the support that such organisations provide for cancer patients and their families, saying: “the darkest moments of illness can be illuminated by the greatest compassion”.
King Charles shared the difficult statistics that 390,000 people receive a new cancer diagnosis every year. That’s over 1,000 people every day.
His Majesty personally thanked researchers, healthcare professionals, volunteers and fundraisers for their vital work, saying they represent ‘the very best our country can offer’.
