King Charles is set to attend an Auschwitz commemoration later this month.

Tell Me More

To mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp, King Charles, alongside numerous other world leaders, will be travelling to Auschwitz in Poland.

The primary focus of the commemorations will be on the remaining elderly survivors of Auschwitz. However, it is anticipated that international leaders and heads of state will attend, as the event coincides with Holocaust Memorial Day.

During his visit, King Charles is expected to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

Why is This Important?

This past week, King Charles hosted an event at Buckingham Palace to support educational projects focused on teaching about the Holocaust, the atrocity inflicted on Jewish people by the Nazis.

Over the years, the King has long been dedicated to fostering dialogue between different faith communities and has consistently spoken out against religious intolerance and extremism.

He has also been a steadfast supporter of Holocaust remembrance efforts, including commissioning portraits in 2022 of seven Holocaust survivors – including Mr Goldberg – as a tribute to the passing generation.
