Liverpool Football Club boosts morale in North West England

Helping disadvantaged young people and supporting the recovery from Covid-19, The Liverpool Football Club (LFC) Foundation has teamed up with community centres to launch wellbeing hubs across Merseyside.

Developed as part of a £2.6 million funding package from the Steve Morgan Foundation and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the hubs will provide a range of free programmes and support for young people and families in 2021.

From January onwards the charity will work with venues across the region to deliver a range of activities designed to create harmonious communities and to improve local people’s health and wellbeing.

Director at LFC Foundation Matt Parish said: “We’re delighted to be kicking off the new year, albeit in difficult circumstances, by launching four new LFC Foundation Community Wellbeing Hubs that will bring much-needed support and stability to people in our local area.”

He added: “As part of the greatest football family in the world we want to look out for each other and play our part. The new hubs will enable us to deliver a range of accessible programmes in the heart of communities across the Liverpool City Region and directly support thousands of young people and their families with the services and opportunities they need. We can’t wait to start welcoming people.”

To abide by government restrictions, services will be provided via the online hub network, for the rest of the lockdown.

How to get involved

The LFC Foundation is encouraging young people and families to attend a local centre once restrictions are lifted. To find a local venue, visit their website.

Formed in 2010, the foundation builds on the work of Liverpool’s Premier League club by improving people’s lives in deprived areas. Those hoping to help their cause can do so via their donations page.
