With COP30 kicking off this week, Music Declares Emergency have twinned this converted climate event with a launch of their own special campaign involving many music artists.
You may be familiar with their work on their previous campaign ‘NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET’ but their newest iteration ‘Hope Over Fear’ unites artists in support to establish regional climate hubs across the UK.
These action hubs will be in partnership with Music Venue Trust and draw on fans, artists, and organisers to be part of local organising.
Lewis Jamieson, CEO of Music Declares Emergency said: “Five years since our launch of NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET, a slogan that has come to encapsulate the commitment of artists, music businesses and fans to making a positive contribution to acting on the climate emergency, we felt it was time to bring a new message.
By bringing our message into towns and cities across the UK through the amazing grassroots venues that are the starting point for so many musical journeys and the creative hubs that underpin UK music,we will strengthen the bonds between music fans, music promoters, and artists who are committed to making a positive difference in their communities. In doing so, we will build a roadmap from declaring an emergency to creating the alternative.”
The artists already confirmed to be part of the campaign are IDLES, Declan McKenna, Bimini, Enter Shikari, Yard Act, Sleaford Mods, Beth Orton, The Pogues, John Grant, Goat Girl, Floating Points, Jasmine 4.t, Editors and The Anchoress.
Be on the lookout as each artist is promoting the launch throughout November and will be wearing the new collection of sustainably made t-shirts by Teemill.
