It’s Pride Month, and if you’re anything like us, despite your resolutions to do better, you see a rainbow slapped randomly onto a T-shirt, and something screams at you to press ‘add to cart’.
But no more!
If you can’t stop, won’t stop, or don’t want to stop, we can help your collection of colour to mean something this Pride.
Rather than buying from corporations and businesses, here are four charities that support the LGBTQ+ community that sell dopamine-inducing Pride stuff. By buying from these organisations, you aren’t just turning your home into Alphabet Mafia HQ - you’re also giving back to the community.
Without further ado, here are four charities you can buy Pride merch during Pride Month.
Equalitee is a Social Enterprise that sells a huge variety of LGBTQ+ swag, with every penny going towards the LGBTQ+ community.
From flag face paints, to badges, to socks and bracelets, Equalitee literally has something for everyone - and they’re repping a huge list of flags, too. The cash raised through Equalitee goes directly to the Rainbow Project, supporting them as they hold up and protect the LGBTQ+ community in Northern Ireland.
The LGBT Foundation is celebrating their 50h anniversary this year as they fight for queer liberation in the UK. If you visit their website, you’ll likely recognise a number of their campaigns, such as the ‘What is a Woman in 2025?’ which has been spotted on billboards and across social media.
Their shop features some incredibly fun pieces, such as T-shirts and hats proclaiming ‘Change the Cis-tem’ (we do love a good pun!). Plus, 100% of the profits goes back into the charity, enabling them to work for hopefully another 50 years.
You might remember seeing the ‘Some people are gay. Get over it.’ posters around schools if you were there in the mid-2010s - and what if we told you you can own some of that merchandise?
Stonewall sells a variety of of LGBTQ+ clothes, accessories and more on their online shop, all with the aim of raising funds to help the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you’re a ‘Get Over It’ millennial, a ‘rainbow laces’ Gen-Z or somewhere in between, the Stonewall shop will have something for you.
The Proud Trust, aimed at young people, schools and educators, has some adorable merch on their shop designed around education and awareness. Alongside pride progress lanyards and the like, are some cute planners, and even a fairy tale about same-gender relationships and equal marriage, aimed at primary school children.
On top of that, they have some handy-dandy guides for how to set up a LGBTQ+ alliance in your school and so much more - and once again, everything you buy goes to help them continue with their amazing work.
At Smiley Movement, we like to elevate the work of charities across the world. Here are three charities whose causes align with the themes in this article.
MindOut. An award winning LGBTQ community mental health service based in Brighton; run by LGBTQ people, for LGBTQ people. Learn more here.
Switchboard. They provide an information, support and referral service for lesbians, gay men and bisexual and trans people – and anyone considering issues around their sexuality and/or gender identity. Support them here.
LGBT Hero. LGBT HERO is the national health and wellbeing charity for LGBTQ+ people supporting over 100,000 people a month. Find out more here.
