Record-breaking successes for Paralympics GB in Paris

Words by Cheyanne Bryan

Over the first weekend of the Paris 2024 Paralympics, Great Britain has achieved a record-breaking number of gold medals in a single day.

In a report, ParalympicsGB shared that 12 wins were secured by athletes on one day of the games this weekend. Sports that had wins were rowing, swimming, athletics and cycling races.

This number overtakes the previous record of 9 gold medals which was achieved at both the 2008 Beijing and 2026 Rio Games.

But that is not all to celebrate as the mixed four para-rowing team continued their 14-year unbeaten run, still holding on to the title of one of the longest winning streaks in British sport.

This triumph now puts Great Britain in second place, behind China and ahead of the USA.
