An incredible night! The 7th Smiley Charity Film Awards

Words by Abi Scaife

Last night was our 7th annual Smiley Charity Film Awards ceremony - and what an incredible night it was!

Hosted by comedian Ellie Taylor, we had the likes of Amy Nuttall, Professor Green and Shirley Ballas gracing our yellow carpet as they came together to celebrate these wonderful charities.

We were also so happy to welcome back TV Presenters AJ and Curtis Pritchard, this time returning as ambassadors of Smiley Movement and the Smiley Charity Film Awards!

At the beginning of the night, our CEO Nicolas Loufrani addressed the audience, giving them an introduction to Smiley Movement and all the things that we are doing to help spotlight charities.

After that we went straight into the awards - and it was a rollercoaster of emotions! Between Amy Nuttall’s profound performance of her charity single ‘Thank You, Mother’, the tears shed over impactful films, and the truly joyful atmosphere of the night, we couldn’t have asked for a better evening.

There were so many incredible awards that were given out - including our inaugural Champion of Change award which was given to activist Nada al-Ahdal.

It was brilliant to be able to sit down and watch all the winning films at the Leicester Square Odeon surrounded by charities whose hard work deserves all the celebration it can get.

We know how hard these charities work day in and day out - that’s why we designed each part of the evening to make them feel like the champions they are!

From goody bags to photo ops, to our yellow carpet walk, we were so glad to see all our guests making the most of it! One thing is for sure, our minds were opened even more to the causes these charities support, and just how important each organisation is for the work they do.

To everyone who was up for an award last night, and even those who just fancied watching along at home - thank you so much, and we hope you had a blast!
