Spreading Warmth: Why We're Talking About How to Support Communities This Winter

06:00, 09 December 2024

Words by Cheyanne Bryan, Editorial and Campaign Marketing Executive, London

We’re spending December at Smiley News by splitting our news efforts into different focuses over the next two weeks.

This week we kick things off with people, the cornerstone of everything that’s difference-making, scale-balancing and supportive of the 17 causes that we back as part of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. This week we’ll be covering the change-makers who embed championing positive change into their DNA.

This week of stories will be kicking off on Human Rights Day on Tuesday, 10th December, which is a yearly observance that commemorates the day in 1948 that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This revolutionary piece of legislation laid out the protected rights of people across the globe and has since been translated into more than 500 different languages.

Our stories won’t just focus on nations in Europe and North America. We’ll be featuring people-centric stories from across the globe, from the USA to Uganda to highlight those individuals who are making a positive impact in their community.

Join us as we spread uplifting news and highlight the people who are doing good in this world!
