What Should I Do for Giving Tuesday?

Has Giving Tuesday crept up on you? You’re definitely not on your own for this one!

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a reminder to do good - this isn’t something that is just for charities, celebrities, or businesses but is for everyone.

If you’re not sure what to do for Giving Tuesday, here are three ideas to help you get started!

Take Supplies to a Food Bank

One of the most practical ways to give support on Giving Tuesday is to head to your local supermarket and pick up some supplies for your local food bank.

Oftentimes, the supplies that are needed are things like pasta sauce, hygiene products, and even pet food.

Just a few quid’s worth of stuff can make a huge difference, both to the food banks, and the families that they are supporting.

Host a Donation Drive

Similarly, instead of working alone, you can help to organise your community to come together to support those in need. Contact local schools, businesses, and faith-based groups to let them know that you want to gather donations (whether that be of food, or something else like clothing and toys), and together you will be able to collect a huge amount.

This is something you can do regularly, or even just as a once-off, and donations can go to local charities or directly to families in need.

Get Involved in Person

It can be hard to commit to regularly volunteering, especially if you are working full time or have a family - but sometimes just volunteering a few hours of your time can make a huge difference.

Whether that’s volunteering your working skills (like copywriting or accounting) to a small charity that may struggle to pay someone, or taking an afternoon shift at a charity cafe or charity shop, there’s a lot you can do in just a short time.
