Content creator Shabaz Ali, widely recognised as ‘Shabaz Says’ on social media, has become the latest  Save the Children UK ambassador. The 30-year-old will also take on the challenge of running the 2025 London Marathon to support the charity's work.

Known for his comedic and satirical content, Shabaz uses humour to address pressing social issues, particularly poverty and discrimination. With a following of over three million across Instagram and TikTok, he also serves as a secondary school chemistry teacher, equipping him with a profound understanding of the challenges children face today.

Over the past year, Shabaz has actively highlighted Save the Children’s impactful initiatives throughout the UK. His commitment includes volunteering at a food pantry in Manchester supported by the charity and advocating for expanded access to Free School Meals for families in need. Additionally, he has participated in the annual Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser and has empowered youth through the political literacy project ‘Our Generation, Our Vote,’ which allowed under-18s in England and Wales to engage in a mock election.

As an ambassador, Shabaz will leverage his platform to raise awareness and funds for campaigns that resonate with him. He plans to document his journey leading up to the London Marathon on April 27, 2025, sharing insights from his training sessions, gym workouts, and the tangible impact of donations on the lives of children.

“I am honoured to be joining Save the Children as an ambassador,” Shabaz stated. “As a teacher, I have always been committed to improving children’s lives, and this is something that Save the Children has done for decades. Today, we witness children whose lives have been devastated by war, uprooted by the climate crisis, and hindered by a lack of education. I want to contribute to Save the Children’s mission. The run will be challenging, but it’s an opportunity to inspire reflection on the disparities in our world and encourage support for this important cause. I hope you will join me on this journey.”

Gemma Sherrington, interim CEO of Save the Children, expressed enthusiasm about Shabaz’s involvement: “We are delighted to welcome Shabaz as an ambassador for Save the Children. His experience as a teacher provides him with valuable insights into the needs of children, fueling his passion for making a positive impact both in the UK and globally. We look forward to supporting him as he prepares for the London Marathon and can’t wait to see him cross that finish line!”
