Ashden’s Let’s Go Zero campaign is offering free online training on carbon literacy for schools.
Starting in spring 2025, Let’s Go Zero, the national campaign for UK schools to reach zero carbon by 2030, is offering free, accredited online training to help schools become more carbon literate. The course, developed in partnership with the Carbon Literacy Project, is specifically designed for school sustainability leads and headteachers.
The training will help participants develop the knowledge and confidence to create or enhance their school’s climate action plan. With the Department for Education’s guidance on climate action plans and sustainability leads coming into effect by September 2025, the course addresses this crucial need.
The training, which runs for four two-hour interactive sessions, will cover climate science, climate justice, and practical steps schools can take to reduce their carbon impact. Participants will also receive ongoing support from a Climate Action Advisor to ensure their school stays on track.
As part of Let’s Go Zero, schools can sign up for free support and resources to kick-start their journey to zero carbon. Over 5,000 schools have already joined the campaign, and this new training programme aims to accelerate efforts to create and implement effective climate action plans. With schools at the heart of educating future generations, this training equips staff with the tools to lead the way in addressing climate change.
The first course starts on 11 March 2025, with further sessions scheduled in the coming months. Spaces are limited, and those interested are encouraged to sign up soon.
Places are limited, but more courses will be added throughout the year. Sign up to find out more and take part here.
