The Corporate Cause category at the Smiley Charity Film Awards celebrates businesses making a positive impact. And this category highlights the powerful partnerships between companies and the organisations they support, showcasing their efforts to create real change.

In this cinematic partnership between the London Sock Company, a brand that believes socks have the power to transform more than just style, but also state of mind, and London-based charity Suited & Booted where they provide low-income or unemployed men with smart tailoring, advice, and confidence to help them enter the workforce.

Suited & Booted

Their film follows TV presenter Dan Walker as he spends a day volunteering as a stylist at the charity, showcasing their vital work in helping men in need dress with confidence for job interviews. Through heartfelt conversations, this film highlights how the simple act of providing smart clothing, combined with emotional support, can significantly boost self-esteem and open doors to brighter future prospects.

Ahead of the Smiley Charity Film Awards, we caught up with Angela Audretsch, Head of Brand at London Sock Company, to learn more about the film.

Why Did You Choose to Get Involved With This Cause?

At London Sock Company, our motto is Walk Brighter – the belief that even small positive details, like a great pair of socks, can transform not just your style, but your state of mind. Suited & Booted are an organisation that really embodies the power of self-belief and the power of style to instil confidence and optimism. Their volunteers work with vulnerable, unemployed and low-income men to help them feel confident and create a positive first impression as they embark on job interviews. Confidence is transformative, and when someone feels their best, they walk taller and brighter into new opportunities. Partnering with Suited & Booted was a natural way for us to bring this belief to life and help more people move forward with confidence. With every order, our customers are helping support others to Walk Brighter.

Why is It So Important for Businesses to Get Involved in Charity Work and Giving Back?

Businesses have a platform and resources that can create real, tangible change. It’s not just about selling products – it’s about building a brand with purpose. Giving back strengthens communities, inspires employees, and connects customers to something bigger than just a transaction. When businesses support causes authentically, they contribute to a cycle of positive impact that extends far beyond the bottom line.

How Can Businesses Best Support the Causes They Are Involved With?

The best way businesses can support a cause is through genuine, ongoing engagement. It’s not just about a one-time donation or campaign – it’s about fostering long-term relationships that create lasting impact. Whether it’s through funding, awareness campaigns, or using a brand’s influence to amplify a cause’s message on a regular basis, businesses should look at how they can provide sustained value. For us, that means donating socks to Suited & Booted, sharing their story with our community, creating inspiring content with them to tell their story, and encouraging others to support their work in meaningful ways.
